Nubian Does

We maintain a clean, tested herd with a few new clean tested goats from another clean tested farm. See our Herd Health page for more info. Documentation can be provided upon request.

Breed: Purebred Nubian

DOB: 01/29/2024

Miss Maude is our first Nubian doe. She is quite a character and very different from our relatively quiet Oberhasli. Nubians are known for being a bit more vocal, and she doesn't disappoint. She is, however, pretty pleasant to handle and she is learning the milkstand routine pretty quickly and stand nicely most of the time. Her kids favored one side when nursing, so her udder is slightly lopsided, but it is overall very nicely attached rear, lateral, and fore. Her teats are a decent size for hand milking and placed nicely. Nubians are known for having richer, creamier milk.

She will be paired with Nugget for breeding season. We don't have currently, or have any plans to add a Nubian buck any time soon. So, rather than create full size experimentals, we have decided to just embrace the Mini Nubians here. We do plan to retain one doeling in an effort to see what Mr. Nugget is adding to milk quality, quantity, and udder structure.

She is still very shy and unsure of us. She and her sister were both weaned recently. As dam raised, it's expected for them to be a bit shy and flighty. Now that they're separated and in a smaller pen and with the very people-friendly Trixie. We're hoping to be able to start winning them over. Of the two of them, Miss Hazel here is a little more stout and wide. She's a bit more shy than Broadway and like to hide behind her when we're in the pen.

She will be paired with Nugget this season assuming she makes weight and maturity requirements.

Miss Broadway needs a nickname that I don't mind calling across the field for. She is a little more curious and I think she will be easier to win over. When I sit in their pen, she is the first of the two to come check me out.

She will be paired with Nugget this season assuming she makes weight and maturity requirements.
