Meet the Rabbits

Our Mini Rex have been a great way to get started with rabbits here at Loki Farms. They’re smaller, calm, and easy to work with and their coats are unbelievably soft and plush. We’ve learned a lot from them while refining our setup and building out our future rabbitry plans.

For now, the Mini Rex are helping us get the rhythm of things down: housing design, feeding systems, and how to manage breeding cycles smoothly. They’ve also given us a few nice harvests. They may be small, but there is more than enough on one bunny for our growing family.

When we're ready to completely swap, we’ll be offering the remaining Mini Rex as we make room for the next phase our larger, dual-purpose lines. If you’re looking for friendly, easy-keeping rabbits they have been a great place to start. Or if you're wanting pets, these guys definitely fit that bill with their sweet disposition.

Our focus is shifting toward the full-sized Rex. A breed that offers everything we’ve loved about our Minis and adds the kind of practical qualities that make sense for a working homestead. The Rex grow quickly, reach a solid market weight with ease, and produce larger litters that let us meet our needs with fewer breedings per year. Their hides are thicker and easier to work with, yet their fur stays every bit as plush and velvety.

Beyond their production traits, Rex are steady-natured and easy to handle. They stay calm around children and farm life, making them a perfect fit for our hands-on, family-run operation. We’ve chosen them for their balance. Gentle temperaments, efficient growth, and versatile value.

We plan to offer:

  • Whole processed meat, harvested humanely and packaged under the small-farm exemption

  • Naturally tanned hides, turning every harvest into something beautiful and useful

  • Occasional breeding stock, selected for good size, temperament, and coat quality

Giant Chinchilla

Coming in the spring 2026! We found someone local who is doing a lot of similar stuff to us and we've worked out a trade to get a trio of these really beautiful giant rabbits from them. They are gorgeous and soooo soft.

We’re adding Giant Chinchillas to our rabbitry for their gentle nature, impressive size, and classic silvery coats. These rabbits are calm and patient by temperament, growing into large, sturdy animals that still handle easily and stay friendly even as adults.

The Giants are known for their fast growth, balanced build, and beautiful, dense fur. Their size makes them an excellent choice for the table, providing a generous yield of mild, tender meat. While their pelts are sought after for tanning thanks to their unique silver shading and durability.

We appreciate how dependable they are as mothers, often raising larger litters without extra fuss. Their steady, easygoing personalities make them a pleasure to work with, and they complement our Rex herd perfectly, sharing the same calm temperament and practical, dual-purpose qualities we value.

We plan to offer:

  • Whole processed meat, harvested humanely and packaged under the small-farm exemption

  • Naturally tanned hides, highlighting their signature silver-gray color

  • Select breeding stock chosen for size, structure, and gentle disposition
